Mercy
Sister Mary Corelita Kelly, 73
A Mass of
Christian Burial was celebrated for Mercy Sister Mary Corelita Kelly
on Dec. 4 in McAuley Hall Health Care Center, Watchung, where she died
Nov. 30 at age 73.
Sister
Corelita entered the Sisters of Mercy in 1948; she received her
bachelor’s degree in English from Georgian Court College and her
master’s degree in English from Catholic University, Washington, D.C.
She
taught in elementary schools throughout New Jersey for 15 years and
then became an educator at the high school level, teaching in
Phillipsburg, Piscataway, Absecon and Red Bank. She also served as a
vice-principal in Red Bank for several years.
Sister
Corelita later served as librarian in Mount St. Mary Academy for 10
years. In 2001, she retired to McAuley Hall Health Care Center where
she continued her ministry of prayer until her death.
Sister
Corelita is survived by her sister-in-law, Shirley Kratzer, as well as
several nieces and nephews.
Funeral
arrangements were handled by Higgins Home for Funerals, Watchung.
Interment was in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield

Anna Polczyk, mother of Trenton preist
Father
Stanislaus Polczyk, parochial vicar of St. Stanislaus Parish and Holy
Cross Parish, Trenton, was principal celebrant of a Mass of Christian
Burial for his mother, Anna Polczyk, in St. Stephen Church, Perth
Amboy, Nov. 26. She died Nov. 22.
One of
ten children, she was the daughter of the late Mikolaj and Maria
Litaniuk. She was born Dec. 18, 1918, in Stanislawow, Poland, about a
month after an independent free Poland was established. With the help
of Catholic Relief Services, she, her husband and son emigrated to the
United States in 1951.
She was
predeceased by her husband Thadeusz, who died in 1999. They were
married for more than 51 years.
In
addition to her priest-son, she is survived by two daughters and a
son-in-law, Maria Polczyk and Marcia and Steven Bailey; three
grandchildren, Michael, Mark and Matthew; a brother, Stanislaw
Litaniuk, in Poland; and a sister Helena in the Ukraine. Also
surviving are several nieces and nephews in Poland, Germany and the
Ukraine.
Interment
was in St. Stephen Cemetery, Keasbey, under the direction of Zylka
Funeral Home, Perth Amboy.
