Dianna Aszman,
daughter of diocesan employee
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Dec. 11
in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge, for Dianna Aszman,
daughter of Harry Aszman, who works in Diocesan Property Management as
a maintenance mechanic. She died Dec. 5 at age 45.
Born in New Brunswick, she grew up in Spotswood and
lived in Bradley Beach before moving to Asbury Park five years ago.
Ms. Aszman had worked as a data processor for the State of New Jersey
for eight years before working as a private childcare worker for the
last few years. She was also a strong advocate and supporter of the
Popcorn Park Zoo, Forked River.
In addition to her father, she is survived by her
mother Deanna Du Charme Aszman; two brothers, Harry and his wife
Debbie of Millstone Township, and Gary and his wife Jan of Somerset;
as well as four nieces and nephews, Nicole, Heather, Dean and Ian.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Brunswick
Memorial Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in St. James Cemetery,
Jamesburg.

Filippini Sister Mary Schimizzi, 79
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Dec. 18
at Villa Walsh, Morristown, for Filippini Sister Mary Schimizzi.
Sister Mary had served as a teacher in two schools located in the
Diocese of Metuchen. She died Dec. 15 at age 79 in St. Clare’s
Hospital, Dover.
Born in Watkins Glen, N.Y., Sister Mary entered the
Institute of the Religious Teachers Filippini Aug. 30, 1939, and made
her religious profession Aug. 27, 1944.
She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degree in
education from Seton Hall University.
Sister Mary had served as a teacher in many
Catholic schools throughout Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York,
Connecticut, Ohio and New Jersey, including Most Holy Rosary School,
Perth Amboy, and St. Ann School, Raritan.
Prior to her retirement to the infirmary at Villa
Walsh in 2000, Sister Mary resided at St. Cecelia Convent, Iselin, for
seven years.
Sister Mary was one of four siblings in the
Schimizzi family to serve in religious life. Her brother, Pallottine
Father Pasquale Schimizzi, predeceased her. She is survived by her
sisters, Josephine Schimizzi, and Filippini Sisters Rose and Catherine
Schimizzi.
In the past Sister Rose served in the Diocese of
Metuchen as principal of St. Cecelia School, Iselin, and as librarian
in St. Mary of Mount Virgin School, New Brunswick. Sister Catherine
also served in Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Parish, Perth Amboy.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made out to
the St. Joseph Hall Building Fund, Religious Teachers Filippini, Villa
Walsh, 455 Western Avenue, Morristown, N.J. 07960-4928. |
