Our task: Love, accept fellow Christians As I read the letter of R.J. Kowalik, I was reminded that there are those members of our Catholic Community that do not feel welcome because of who they are, or where they come from, or their place in society, or even circumstances that have affected their lives in one way or another. I suddenly felt overwhelmed by that feeling and felt compelled to speak out. It bothered me that there are Catholics who feel they do not belong. On the contrary, they should feel accepted in their place of worship. As Catholics, we are called to spread Christ’s message of peace, understanding, compassion and acceptance. That message is needed today more than ever in all aspects of our society. We are called not to judge one another but simply to love and accept all who believe in Christ. It is a difficult calling to not be judgmental and simply love and accept, but it is a worthy goal to set our sights on. To not strive for this would, in my view, be to deny the message of Christ. K.
