Mary E. Carrano, aunt of Bishop Paul G. Bootkoski

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Sept. 15 in St. Philip the Apostle Church, Clifton, for Mary E. Carrano, aunt to Bishop Paul G. Bootkoski. She died Sept. 12 at age 94.

Born in Newark, Carrano was a Clifton resident for more than 50 years and was a member of St. Philip the Apostle Parish, Clifton. Before retiring, she was a long-distance telephone operator for New Jersey Bell Telephone Company in Newark.

Carrano was predeceased by her husband, Francis L. Carrano, Jr., and two brothers, Peter G. Bootkoski and Anthony Urso.

In addition to Bishop Bootkoski, she is survived by her sisters, Ann Swakopf of Clifton and Susan Worbetz of Hollywood, Fla., one brother, Alphonse Urso of Edison, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were made by the Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Interment followed in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Upper Montclair.
