Three-peat: Bishop Ahr gymnasts named best in state

Champions — The Bishop Ahr High School gymnastics team celebrated its third straight state gymnastics title Nov. 12.

For the third consecutive year, the Bishop Ahr High School gymnastics team won the state championship Nov. 12 in the Rutgers University Livingston College Gymnasium. 

The team posted a winning score of 111.80 points combined in four events: balance beam, uneven bars, vault and floor exercise. It was the second highest score in state history, and only the second time in state history that a school has won three consecutive championships.

Freshman Jahni Stastil placed fifth in the state in individual competition, with an all-around score of 37.2. Other students receiving high scores in the all-around were Jill Dean, senior, nineth; Ashley Anne Chosney, junior, 14th, and Nicole Schwartz, sophomore, 17th.

Ashley McQuade, freshman, received a 9.125 on the uneven bars.

Other members of the Bishop Ahr gymnastics team include Robyn Douglas, Carmen Loo, Leigh Ferraro, Kelly Magnus, Isabel Kierencew, Lauren Moroch, Leah Jeffrey, Morgan Pepe, Kathleen Del Duca and Jillian Schweizer.
