Religious Teacher Filippini Sister Frances Copersino

A funeral Mass was celebrated May 9 for Religious Teacher Filippini Sister Frances Copersino in St. Lucy Chapel, Villa Walsh, Morristown.

She died May 6 at Saint Joseph Hall Health Care Center, Villa Walsh, Morristown, at age 79.

Born in New York City, she entered the Religious Teachers Filippini in 1950, received her habit in 1951 and made her profession in 1954.

Sister Frances earned her associate in arts degree in elementary education from Villa Walsh Junior College, Morristown, and a bachelor of science degree in elementary education from the College of Saint Elizabeth, Morristown.

As a teacher of middle grades, Sister Frances served in the following New Jersey schools: Holy Family School, Nutley; St. Joachim School, Trenton; Our Lady of Mount Virgin School, Garfield; Our Lady of Sorrows School, Jersey City, and Our Lady of Mercy School, Park Ridge.

She also served as a school librarian at Holy Trinity School, Long Branch; St. Mary of Mount Virgin School, New Brunswick; Villa Victoria Academy, Trenton; Holy Innocents School, Neptune; and St. Peter School, Merchantville.

After retiring from the schools, she served as a pastoral minister. In 2005, Sister Frances was admitted to St. Joseph Hall Health Care Center.

She is survived by her brothers, Domenic and Albert, and nieces and nephews.

Consolata Father Herman Crespi

A funeral Mass was celebrated May 5 in Montreal, Canada, for Father Ermenegildo (Herman) Crespi, regional superior of the Consolata Missionaries in Somerset.

He died May 4 in Montreal, Canada, after a long illness.

Born in 1936 in San Zenone Ezzelini ( Treviso), Italy, Father Crespi passed away after 45 years of religious profession and 42 years in the priesthood. Elected superior of the North America region June 23, 2005, Father Crespi spent many years in Canada and the missions of Argentina.

Father Crespi had a deep devotion to Our Lady Consolata, the Sacred Heart of Jesus and St. Joseph.

Burial was in Montreal. A memorial Mass will be held at the Somerset mission center. The Consolata Missionaries may be reached at (732) 297-9191.

Religious Teacher Filippini Sister Mary Perlingiero

A funeral Mass was celebrated May 11 for Religious Teachers Filippini Sister Mary Perlingiero in St. Lucy Chapel, Villa Walsh, Morristown.

She died May 7 in St. Joseph Hall Health Care Center, Villa Walsh, Morristown, at age 89.

A native of Trenton, Sister Mary entered the Religious Teachers Filippini in 1927, received the habit in 1934 and made her profession in 1937.

She earned a Normal School diploma from Villa Walsh Normal School, Morristown.

For 13 years Sister Mary served in the community’s mission houses.

She taught first grade for 20 years and other primary grades for 14 years. She taught at St. James School and St. Joachim School, Trenton; Our Lady of Mount Carmel Mission, Montclair; St. Mary of Mount Virgin School, New Brunswick; and St. Ann School, Raritan.

Sister Mary also taught at various schools in Connecticut, Maryland, New York and Pennsylvania.

In 2005, she was admitted to St. Joseph Hall Health Care Center.

Sister Mary is survived by her three sisters, Tomasina Perlingiero, Rose Gruzlozvic and Sara Knuckels, and many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were made by Doyle Funeral Home, Morristown.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph Hall c/o Religious Teachers Filippini, Villa Walsh, 455 Western Ave., Morristown, NJ 07960.
